Principal Investigator

Dr. Jenni Karl is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. She teaches courses in psychology and behavioural neuroscience and conducts research into how the human brain generates complex sensorimotor behaviours. She is especially interested in how these movements and their underlying neural substrates arose through evolution, are established during development, and break down in various neurological disorders.

Dr. Karl previously completed a year of postdoctoral research in Dr. Jody C. Culham‘s laboratory at the Brain and Mind Institute at Western University in London, Ontario, Canada and a Ph.D. in Behavioural Neuroscience under the supervision of Dr. Ian Q. Whishaw at the Canadian Centre for Behavioural Neuroscience at the University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada.

Her research has been supported by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), the New Frontiers in Research Fund (SSHRC), Alberta Innovates-Health Solutions (AI-HS), and the Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI). You can view her academic genealogy at Neurotree.
